Alvin Man Photo Photo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The union representing Air Transat pilots is trying to leverage the airline\u2019s first-quarter financial results and a favourable contract for flight attendants in their push for a new collective agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Air Line Pilots Association International (ALPA) issued a statement March 14, after Transat A.T., the airline\u2019s parent company, reported 17.7 per cent year-over-year revenue growth in 1Q 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pilots union also noted favourable terms for flight attendants in a new deal they ratified last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased that the flight attendants have reached a new collective agreement that makes them the highest-paid flight attendants in Canada,\u201d said Capt Bradley Small, chair of the Air Transat ALPA Master Executive Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBeyond improving the wages of its flight attendants, we acknowledge Air Transat management for improving work-life balance and workplace safety, which has reduced fatigue on overnight flights.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its first-quarter financial release, Transat president and CEO Annick Guerard said \u201cpersisting speculation\u201d of a strike by flight attendants affected bookings and yield for the winter season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased that the adoption of a new collective agreement \u2026 removed this uncertainty,\u201d said Guerard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Air Transat pilots are positioning their own contract status as another potential source of uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur pilots encourage Air Transat management to work with us to avoid any uncertainty for our passengers, pilots, and airline colleagues by negotiating a long-overdue new collective agreement\u00a0that reflects Canada\u2019s shifting airline landscape and recognizes that pilots offer a unique, sought-after skill set,\u201d said Bradley Small.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur contribution to the airline\u2019s stability and success and our company\u2019s commitment to reducing fatigue will enable Air Transat to continue its growth strategy by retaining and attracting pilots well into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cOur pilots encourage Air Transat management to work with us to avoid any uncertainty for our passengers, pilots, and airline colleagues,&#8221; the pilots union said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":61,"featured_media":317706,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","categories":[99320,99054],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-354943","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-airlines","category-commercial","entry"],"acf":[],"jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"amp_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/skiesmag.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/354943","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/skiesmag.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/skiesmag.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/skiesmag.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/61"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/skiesmag.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=354943"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/skiesmag.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/317706"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/skiesmag.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=354943"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/skiesmag.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=354943"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/skiesmag.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=354943"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
